Hendon Almshouses

Here are ten Almshouses erected by the consent of the Lord of the Manor, AD 1729, in accordance with the will of Robert Daniel, Merchant of London, dated 1681, who bequeathed £2,000 for the purpose. They are endowed with 122 acres of freehold land at North Aston and 10 acres at Stoke Lynn, both in Oxfordshire, and were settled in this Parish by a decree, enrolled in Chancery in the year 1727.

The Almshouses were repaired in 1853, and now accommodate nine poor persons, each of whom receives 7s per week. The income of the Charity , amounting to £90 yearly, is controlled by three trustees.
