Plumptre Hospital

Plumptre Square, was founded in 1392 by John de Plumptre, who endowed it for the support of a Master, a Priest and thirteen poor Widows. In 1823 John Plumptre esq., the late Master, obtained an Act of Parliament to dispose of part of the trust property, and rebuilt the Hospital. The income is £1,100 and each inmate receives £13 10s, a ton of coals and a gown yearly. There are also forty out pensioners, who each receive £13 yearly.
