Hospital of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, Clun

Adjoining the Parish of Clun, founded in the year 1614, by the Right Hon. Henry Howard, Earl of Northampton, of Greenwich in the County of Kent, for the support of 18 poor Men, each of whom receives 10s weekly, together with hat and gown. They are also partially supplied with food and medical attendance, and have the use of a garden and other privileges. The original foundation was for a warden and twelve inmates, poor Men, but as the funds of the Institution have accumulated the number has been increased to eighteen, by a decree in the Court of Chancery, and may be yet further increased to twenty. The income is about £1,600. Out of the surplus funds two national schools have been erected, one at Clun, another at Newcastle township. These schools are principally supported out of the income and are the property of the hospital. The wardenship which is in the gift of the Earl of Powis, has been held since 1898 by the Rev. A. E. Lloyd Kenyon M.A. Vicar of Clun.
