Uttoxeter Almshouses

The almshouses in Carter Street, founded and endowed by Catherine Mastergent, by will, dated March 20th, 1646, and John Wright, by will, dated March 23rd 1729, are for four Widows; In the same street are other almshouses for eight Widows, founded and endowed in the year 1700 by William Lathropp, and rebuilt in 1848 at a cost of £300. There are also a number of cottages in Pinfold Lane, built by Joseph Bladon esq., of Old Field House, who died January 12th 1863, in which aged persons, on a nominal acknowledgement, are permitted to reside.
