Fulbourn Asylum, Cambridge - purchase of land for £30,000
Plans for building 1850-1856

The County Lunatic Asylum at Fulbourn, opened Nov. 2, 1858, is a structure of brick in the Elizabethan style, from plans by Mr. Fowler Jones, architect, of York, & was erected at a cost of about £40,000: it has since been considerably enlarged and in 1900 had 550 patients. By 1908 it had 700 patients; attached are 87 acres of land, a consecrated cemetery, gas works, brew house & farm buildings.
