Asylums within the County of Surrey
Report of the Commissioners in Lunacy to the Lord Chancellor
p 005 Surrey, Brookwood
The new Asylum for the County of Surrey, at Brookwood near Woking, was opened in
June 1867; and 160 males and 168 females having been received during the
remainder of that year, the number of inmates on the 1st of last January was 307
being 152 males and 155 Females.
The defective water supply, remarked upon in former Reports,
still retards the full development of this Asylum.
