The Kent County Ophthalmic Hospital
At Miadstone, founded in 1847, is a building in a simple Tudoresque style, and
is entirely supported by voluntary contributions. Since 1891 it has been much
improved, an operation room added and a Chapel built. The building is capable of
receiving 42 in-patients, and during the year 1901 250 in-patients and 3,520
out-patients were received.
