Yarmouth
The Royal or Yarmouth Hospital was instituted on 28 June 1838, the day
of her Majesty's Coronation, & occupies a handsome white brick building in
St George's Sq, finished in March 1840, at the cost of more than £1000. It has
accommodation for 20 in patients. The Dispensary, which was established in 1822,
has merged into this institution for affording medical & surgical aid to the
sick & lame poor of Yarmouth & the Hundreds of East & West Flegg, in
Norfolk; & Mutford & Lothingland, in Suffolk, as in & out patients.
Of the latter, it relieves more than 700 yearly. The Rev H Mackenzie is
President, & F R Reynolds esq, Vice President. Two physicians & four
surgeons lend their aid gratuitously, & Mr Thomas S Rising is the House
