Edith Cavell (1865 - 1915)
Became a Probationer at the London Hospital, and then Nursed in Brussels. She
remained there during WW1 Nursing all nationalities. She transformed the
hospital into a Red Cross Hospital, but was arrested for assisting the British
to escape.
Cavell was executed by firing squad in October 1915. Her last message was:
"Standing as I do before God and Eternity, I realise that patriotism is not
enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone".
