Cirencester Union

The Board of Guardians meet alternate Mondays at the Union Workhouse at 11am.
The population of the Union in 1901 was 19,620, area 86,183 acres, and rateable value in 1901 £112,883.

The Cirencester Union comprises the following Parishes:
Down Ampney, Ampney Crucis, Ampney St Mary, Ampney St Peter, Bagendon, Barnsley, Baunton, Brimpsfield, North Cerney, South Cerney, Cirencester, Coates, Colesbourne, Daglingworth, Driffield, Duntisbourne Abbots, Duntisbourne Rouse, Edgeworth, Elkstone, Fairford, Harnhill, Hatherop, Kempsford, Meysey Hampton, Poulton, Preston, Quenington, Rendcombe, Rodmarton, Sapperton, Siddington, Stratton, Syde, Winstone

The workhouse, a building of stone, was erected in 1836, for 330 inmates.

The Cottage Hospital

Sheep Street, was established in 1875, and contains 9 beds. The average number of in patients is about 100.
