Lunesdale  Poor Law Union and Workhouse

The Lunesdale Union Workhouse was erected in Hornby in 1872, following the formation of Lunesdale Union in 1869. The Poor Law Union comprised the Parishes of Arkholme with Cawood, Borwick, Burrow with Burrow, Cantsfield, Caton, Claughton, Farleton, Gressingham, Halton, Hornby, Ireby, Nether Kellet, Over Kellet, Leck, Melling with Wrayton, Quernmore, Roeburndale, Tatahm, Tunstall, Wennington, Whittington and Wray with Botton.
