Summary of Results.
Workhouses.
Pauper inmates of Workhouse establishments in the Registration County number 2,600 persons of all ages, 1,466 Males and 1,134 Females. 
These represent approximately 0.6% of the general population.
At advanced ages the proportion is far higher; at 55 years and upwards the % is 2.00% and at 65 years and upwards is 3.00%.

Prisons
Prisoners in the Local and Convict Prisons in the Registration County number 95. 89 Males and 6 Females.

The Blind, Deaf and Dumb
The number of persons returned as Blind is 472, and of these 35 suffer from some other Infirmity also.

Deaf and Dumb persons including 21 returned simply as Dumb, number 214, and of these 8 suffer from some other Infirmity also.

Lunatics
Lunatics number 1,420, including 13 afflicted with some other Infirmity also; and the Imbecile and Feeble-minded 882, including 14 otherwise afflicted. The total of these classes is 2,302.
It may be noted that, of the 2,302 persons returned as mentally deranged, 1,742 were the inmates of institutions, including 1,448 in Public and Private Lunatic Asylums, 294 in Workhouses, the remaining 560 were residing with relatives or in unlicensed houses.

Of the 294 mentally deranged persons enumerated in Workhouses, 94 were returned as a Lunatic and 200 as Imbecile, or Feeble-minded; and of the 560 not enumerated in Institutions, 14 were returned as Lunatics and 546 as Imbecile or Feeble-minded.
