HORSHAM Workhouse and Poor Law Union
The
central workhouse of the Union has
180 inmates. Robert Faulkener, master; Mrs Faulkener, matron;
Louis Feist, schoolmaster; Mrs Weller, schoolmistress; James Winkworth,
surgeon. the Rev William Allen, chaplain.

Horsham Union Workhouse
20 years ago it was the Forest Mental Hospital. When
that closed down it stood derelict for several years but was then redeveloped
into residential units, preserving the shell of the building brilliantly. It is
in Crawley Road in Horsham.
