The population of the Union in 1911 was 13,303, area 75,218 acres, rateable value, Lady Day 1915, £69,404.

The Poor Law Institution, Woodborough Road, is a plain building of stone, erected in 1836 and will hold 200 inmates. A Chapel has been erected in front of the building.
