Trowbridge Union Workhouse
Board day every other Wednesday at 11am at the Poor Law
Institution at Semington.

The Union comprises the following places:
- Hilperton
- Melksham Within
- Melksham Without
- Seend
- Semington
- Staverton
- Trowbridge
The area of the Union is 16,394 acres, rateable value in 1915 was £92,717,
and the population in 1911 was 19,895.
Poor Law Institution, Semington, a building of stone, erected in 1835 to hold
350 inmates.

The Public Soup Kitchen
In Frog Lane, for the gratuitous distribution of soup, was given to
