Reeth Poor Law Union and Workhouse
Reeth Poor Law Union was declared 2nd April 1840. The former parish Workhouse,
erected early 1800's was adapted for use as the Union Workhouse.
The workhouse is available for 30 inmates; Thomas WHITE, master;
William Clark SPEIRS, M.B. Ch.B. Edin., medical officer,
Mrs. Elizabeth WHITE, matron.
Reeth Union comprises of 7 parishes/townships, with a population in 1901 of 2,520.
