Carlton Incorporation

Carlton Incorporation (Gilbert Union) was formed under an Act of Parliament (22 Geo. 3, c.83) until 1869.

Here is an Incorporated Workhouse, built in 1818, for 40 townships united under Gilbert's Act for the support of their in-door poor.

These 40 townships form Otley Superintendent Registrar's District.
Mr C J Walker, of Otley, is the clerk.
